Description
This original mixed media quadriptych painting on wood panels evokes the figurative line in the sand – once you’ve crossed it you can never return. This speaks to the Blancarte’s experience of living so near the Mexican-United States border and what crossing that line means for so many. These set is absolutely stunning. Their texture and depth cannot be fully appreciated via an image on a screen.
Blancarte’s signature style is neo fresco. He paints by setting the canvas or wood panel on the floor, dripping colors over scattered marble dust and other materials; all of which give the pictorial format the appearance of a plastered wall, the layer of a cavern or the surface of stone, just like prehistoric painters from Baja California had known.
Each panel is 26″ x 26″ for a combined total of 26″ x 104″. If hung with 2″ between each of the 4 panels, the total width would be 110″. The frame is built into the panel so there is no need to frame this quadriptych.
