This is part of the Marks on Land series, which includes aerial color photography of Southern California. This particular photograph was taken in the Inland Empire, California somewhere near Rialto. It’s large format digital photography using a helicopter as his platform. “What would one think as you lazily lay in your hammock with a pen in hand and sketched on a yellow lined legal pad? That thought came to me as we flew over the winter farmland east of Los Angeles in the Inland Empire. The scene transpiring below me was the hand of some interloper on the land. The diagonal lines representing the legal pad and the superimposed lines were, in my mind’s eye, a figure study from my days in art school. In reality, standing behind the curtain with a rational eye, the scene was created by an equally free-spirited individual taking their motorcycle for a dizzying spin across the freshly cultivated fields” – Tom Lamb
