Description
This original mixed media painting on wood panel is part of a series of small paintings that Blancarte completed in 2017. Each small masterpiece comes with the frame built around the panel and can be hung alone or with others in the series. During exhibitions, Blancarte has combined a number of them with different colored frames to make an intriguing color pallet that accentuates the incredible depth and neutral tones of his work. This painting celebrates the stamps put on products that are made in Mexico.
Blancarte’s signature style is neo fresco. He paints by setting the canvas on the floor, dripping colors over scattered marble dust and other materials; all of which give the pictorial format the appearance of a plastered wall, the layer of a cavern or the surface of stone, just like prehistoric painters from Baja California had known. Because of the texture and depth in Blancarte’s work, it cannot be fully appreciated via an image on a screen.
Painting Dimensions: 12″ x 12″. The built-in, honey-colored frame adds 1″ on each side. Total dimensions: 14″ x 14″.
